Stopped here on our way to New York from North Carolina. After reading all the reviews I expected it to be very good. It was ok. Fried pickle appetizer was ok. I had the Carolina pulled pork sandwich. It was dry and my bun was soggy. I ended up having to add the sauce that was on the table which was ok. Came with a baked potato salad (the better of the meal) Someone else had the brisket platter. Brisket was Was better than mine but the plate was orange from all the grease. BBQ beans were different but very tasty. We liked them. Free refills with sodas. Service was great, everyone super friendly and polite. Place was very clean. I don't think I would return if I had to make the trip again. I feel like I have eaten better pulled pork sandwiches at some chain restaurants in NY. (Maybe we are spoiled with food from NY)

We've been fans of Firehouse for years. They even catered our wedding years ago! If you want to eat like a native, order pulled pork sandwich, slaw on the sandwich. Steak fries are second to none and baked beans are delicious. Top it off with some tea; sweet or unsweet. You'll walk away satisfied. Servers are always smiling and helpful. If you order ribs ask for a bib and take one home for a souvenir.

Seriously this is our go-to restaurant almost every week. We love their BBQ, I go for the Sliced Pork Platter - delicious smoked pork loin, with the traditional sides, fries, bbq baked beans (delish)...my honey loves their Rueben sandwich. We always get a Large House Salad with their fantastic house dressing!!!! LOVE. Also I will tell you their service is bar none. The managers will work very hard to make things right if you ever have an issue with your order. Customer service is first rate!!!

Service was good. Chicken and brisket was too dry for me. The pulled pork was perfect. They were out of ribs. The beans had a sweet onion flavor and were very good.

Was looking for some good southern BBQ, and was told The Firehouse was the place for that. They did not disappoint !!! I had the ribs and brisket with baked beans, and potato salad. Everything was great. The brisket was a tad bit dry, but not too bad. The ribs were great, as was the homemade beans. The star of the meal was the potato salad. BEST I'VE EVER TASTED !!!! The staff were super friendly and very engaging. I would definitely recommend this place and if I ever return to the area, I'm going back !!!! Well done Firehouse .....

Firehouse suffers from being too nice, too polished. If you want a tumbledown, down home BBQ experience, this is not it. Firehouse was clean, comfortable, not unlike a Benigans with much better Q. The Carolina pulled pork was good, moist. I enjoyed the sauces. Sides of slaw, broccoli salad, steak fries were good. The service could not have been friendlier.

I went here for the first time on the fourth of July and was very pleased with the taste and the price. However, it took very long to get our food. We waited forever and it wasn't busy at all. We had the firehouse nachos, turkey reuben and pulled pork platter. The reuben was soggy probably from sitting and waiting on other food to get done, but we ate it and still give them five stars. So in general it was good, prices were great and we will give them one more try.

Great service and cool firehouse decorations. Love the bbq pork, my husband likes the brisket. Get the hashbrown casserole!

Fantastic!! Went there for lunch. We each got a pulled pork sandwich, which were among the best I've ever had. And the potato salad was out of this world! (Which is saying something since I don't really like potato salad). The service was top-notch as well. I would have liked to have tried one of their desserts, but I was so stuffed from lunch it just wasn't possible. Highly recommend!

Located inside a former fire station, this locally owned BBQ joint has a friendly and professional staff, fantastic marinated pulled pork and chicken, and a dessert menu prepared in-house every day. This was an amazing meal experience I will repeat as often as I visit this city. I arrived along with the grandmother early on a Tuesday night. The house was packed with locals, many of them eating here on a weekly basis. It is near the East Tennessee State University, so you will find college students dining and working here. The staff where fire department staff uniforms for a fun and professional vice. An old firetruck adorns the lobby as you enter. Firefighter memorabilia cover the walls. It is a unique dining location. I ordered a BBQ platter that came with some pulled pork, steak fries, and BBQ beans. This was some of the best BBQ I've ever had because it was cooked thoroughly but not seared dry, still juicy from the vinegar-based sauce they used to marinate the meat, and the pulled pieces weren't chunky or fatty in the least. They only have two BBQ sauces to add to the meal: a standard sauce, and a spicier version you can request from your waiter or waitress. The grandmother ordered a sliced pork sandwich and coleslaw. She must've really enjoyed it cause she didn't do much talking during the meal. Either that, or she just doesn't like talking to me anymore. I think she liked the meal. Between the two of us we also ordered the pimento cheese dip. It was really amazing, heated and melted, and not overwhelming. But that leads to the only detraction of the meal experience: the chips were so salty my mouth felt like the Sahara Desert after the first bite. However, when I told this to the waitress she quickly brought us a fresh batch of salt-free chips. This was a wonderful dining experience that I look forward to repeating again soon. This place is good for children old enough to enjoy this type of food, great for groups, and highly recommended to anyone with a taste for BBQ.

We found this place based on a Yelp review and were very pleased. We had the pulled pork and baby back ribs. Both were great. Sides were also solid. Nothing too fancy or out of the ordinary, but that's why I liked it. I got what I expected and it was very good.

Awesome food... Great atmosphere ... old fire engine (1925) at entrance. Clean restaurant . Service was fast and very friendly.

The staff is super friendly. Seems to be a place for regulars. Love the theme and how it is decorated. Good size portions and good prices. Very sweet bbq sauce. Too sweet. And it was on everything. Sides were lacking in options. Not a big fan of the baked beans.

Best bbq in tri cities! Go there at least once every other week. Try the sliced pork platter with hash browns and the house salad with homemade blue cheese.

This place has excellent BBQ, Had the pulled pork, beans, and coleslaw with toast. They give you good portions and the meat was nice and smoky and not dry at all. The BBQ sauce and coleslaw were also really good. The inside of this place is pretty cool and the waitress was very attentive and nice. Can't wait to come back here!

Great BBQ. This is one of my favorite places to eat. I always feel satisfied when I leave. I usually get the pulled pork plate with the tasty baked beans and then I have to try to decide between the steak fries or the baked potato, both of which are great! The service is good and very friendly.

We found this restaurant on yelp, took a chance and found the food, waiters and waitresses First Class! Wow would recommend taking the extra drive from freeway to get here!

I always have a super positive experience here. I love the atmosphere and the staff very friendly. I always leave full. I just prefer Firehouse leaps and bounds over Ridgewood.

Great barbecue, good portions, priced right. Very nice atmosphere, especially if you like firehouse stuff, even ncludes a full size vintage fire truck! Though the atmosphere is nice, we come for the food which is consistent and very, very, good! I usually get the pulled pork or brisket. Service is friendly and prompt. They are closed on Sundays in case you are planning a visit. We live in the area, and many organizations have the Firehouse cater the events. Their catered food is excellent also.

The service and the staff were excellent. Everyone we dealt with was very upbeat and helpful. The food was good, but is not in the realm of what I would consider "excellent" bbq. Ordered the pulled pork and ribs combo. Pulled pork was ok, but nothing special. Ribs were better and had a nice smoke flavor. The cheese hash browns and broccoli salad were both good. I basically chose this place for my kid (fire station theme), but if I had to choose a bbq place again, I will likely choose one of the other joints in town to see if they offer anything more authentic.

So glad we stopped for lunch on our way through to Nashville! Our party of seven ordered a bit of everything off the menu, and it was all delicious. Recommendations include the ribs, pulled pork, platters, BBQ beans sides, and the homemade sauces. The Tennessee Hospitality was first class. Our waitress, Kaily, was knowledgable and helpful, and the owner, Tom, must be commended for his hospitality and generosity. A shining example of a genuine family owned and operated business. A memorable dining experience for our group visiting from all over the world. Try the caramel pecan dessert, cooked by Tom's wife!

This place is ok. I usually only have this place when it's catered out as I'm not a huge fan of the atmosphere in here. It's not that I even dislike it, I just don't get what all the fuss is about, haha. The BBQ is good. I can't take that away from it. There's nothing better for southern gatherings than some BBQ to bring everyone together.

If you think of The Firehouse as merely a Barbecue restaurant, you will miss out on a lot. I do love their BBQ pulled pork and ribs, but there are many additional specialties you can't go wrong by ordering. As an appetizer, you can't beat the Firehouse nachos. You get a huge portion that is good for sharing among 4 or more people, but would do as a meal for one with leftovers. Nachos with pulled pork instead of ground beef! Entrees run from traditional barbecue to really good burgers and sandwiches. My favorite is their club sandwich on whole wheat. It just hits the spot! Their beans are the local favorite and can't miss. Fries are the best in town. To top it all off, their desserts are to die for! Most are topped with Breyer's vanilla bean ice cream. My favorite is the pecan pie square, but you can't go wrong with the Fudge Finale or their signature dessert, the Chocolate Delight. The chef even makes special desserts like blackberry cobbler on occasion. My favorite restaurant in town!

Good ribs but not exactly my taste. It was very tender and fell off the bone. Great service. Still think Shane's rib shack is the best for ribs.

I visited this establishment with brother who lives in the area (who, by the way, noted this place earns high marks from him for consistency in product and service). The visit completely satisfied my craving for pulled pork (I ordered it North Carolina style). Try the very well done sauce and note the creamy, smoky and tangy qualities. Enjoy the freshly brewed sweet or unsweet tea (my glass never hit empty thanks to our amazing waitress, Lauren, who was completely on top of her game and always served us with a smile). Try mixing the beans with the cole slaw for a tasty flavor combination. Overall, a wonderful BBQ experience that was not too hard on the wallet. Thanks, Brother!

There is a LOT of good BBQ in this part of the country so the Firehouse has some stiff competition. I went for lunch, had a GREAT FANTASTIC server Laya (I think sorry if I misspelled it) I had the sliced beef, beans, and hashbrown casserole. It was OK, not great but just OK. I'm giving it a 2.5 stars...

Firehouse BBQ has been around for many years. Only one restaurant, not a chain. The owner, Tom, is usually around the office which I believe is still located on premise. BBQ is very good and I have BBQ from many, many states. Red sauce is one of my favorites and the beans are in the top 3 I have ever had. The restaurant is actually in an old fire station so the atmosphere is real. Give it a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Firehouse may be my favorite restaurant in Johnson City. While you might nominally call it a BBQ place, almost everything on the menu is good. That includes burger, chicken, excellent side dishes ... it's difficult to go wrong. Nothing terribly exciting or exotic and you wouldn't drive 50 miles to come here; but if you're looking for something classic that's done very well in Johnson City, then I'd recommend checking out The Firehouse.

A half-hour wait at 7:30 on a Tuesday in this town? You figure they've got to be doing something right. And they are. Darn good bbq, just like my favorite place in my hometown, right down to the selection of sauces (regular, hot, and sweet, all in unlabeled bottles), the bowls of beans with shredded pork bark in them, and the requisite texas toast. Yep, they've got the right idea at this place.

Absolutely the best BBQ anywhere! BBQ sauce is so good I could drink it out of the bottle! Great Salads, Chili, Ribs and Chicken. Nice, clean restaurant. Very, very friendly staff. 2 can eat and tip for less than $30. No Alcohol, so very family friendly. I personally don't think Red Pig nor Ridgewood hold a candle to Firehouse.

Damn I miss the firehouse!... LOVE this place, best BBQ in Tennessee next to the Red Pig of course :-)

Pretty good. A popular lunch spot for local police - it's that good. Like an old firehouse inside - imagine that. Good variety of food at real good prices. Food is kind of like Calhoun's or The Cooker - generally southern but NOT like Cracker Barrel (in the least bit).

Wasn't very impressed with the barbecue, very dry.
